As the world searches for more sustainable ways to meet the ever increasing energy demand from the growing population solar panels are often advocated as a way to harness the plentiful resource of the Sun, modern panels can be effective not just for generating electricity but for heating water and with recent advances are a viable means of power even in countries like the UK that do not experience year round bright sunshine.

What many people may not know however is that silver plays an important part in the manufacture and operation of solar panels. In the form of a silver paste which is incorporated into the electronics and circuitry it increases the efficiency of the panels which naturally leads to a more sustainable solution in the long term and opens more potential applications for the use of solar panels.
