This Commemorative coin was released by The Royal Mint to commemorate the United Kingdom's Presidency of the Council of Ministers during the latter part of 1992 and the completion of the Single European Market, that came into effect on January 1st 1993.
The reverse of this 22 carat Gold proof coin is designed by sculptor Mary Milner Dickens and features an overhead view of a conference table showing twelve stars symbolising the capital cities of the twelve member countries and twelve chairs for the Council of Ministers.The head of the table shows the UK in the prominent position in recognition of the UK's presidency.
The obverse is the elegant and very detailed portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf.
