The Elizabeth Monroe First Spouse Gold Coins are part of a series of coins which honour the American First Ladies. The obverse of the Elizabeth Monroe coin depicts the bust of Dolley Madison which was designed by Susan Gamble and sculpted by Don Everhart. The reverse depicts Elizabeth at the reception opening of the White House after the war of 1812. The occasion marked the first time the White House had been open after it burned in the war.
