The world famous Austrian Philharmonic coins is the official Bullion coin of the Republic of Austria. It was first minted in 1989 and pays tribute to the renown Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. It is mainly minted in fine 24ct Gold but available in Silver of different finenesses from 800 parts per thousand upwards, with weights from 1/10th of a troy oz (3.110 grams) to a full t/oz.

In 2004, over a dozen Gold Philharmonic bullion coins were minted to 1,000 t/oz, or 31.103 kilograms with a face value of €100,000. At today's prices, the Gold content of each of these coins would be approximately £750,000.

Although each coin has a face value in Euros, the Philharmonic bullion coins are not legal tender outside of Austria, and the value on each is a nominal amount making the Gold or Silver content worth much more.

The reverse of the Gold Philharmonic coin depicts the Great Organ of the Golden Hall in Vienna's concert hall, the Musikverein, with the obverse showing a selection of string instruments and a Vienna horn.
