Istanbul Gold Refinery first started refining gold in 1996 and then together with Halac Jewellery of Anatolia, with the support of the Turkish banks, opened a brand new refinery in Kuyumcukent (the Goldsmiths City) in Istanbul in 2004. It now smelts over 120 tons of gold per year, as well as silver, and produces a range of minted gold and silver bars from 1 gram to 100 grams. The company has gained sufficient proficiency to be members of the Istanbul Gold Exchange, DMCC and LBMA.
