Sunday, March 6th 2016

Historically this special day was observed by 16th-century Christians in the United Kingdom where mothers were reunited with their children after long periods of apprenticeship or service to celebrate Lent. A tradition originally tied to the church, Mothering Sunday was unrelated to the American holiday and was celebrated well into the 19th-century until the Industrial Revolution which saw a decline in these observances.

World War Two brought the American soldiers and Mother’s Day celebrations to the UK where the holiday was combined with the declining Mothering Sunday traditions and thanks to commercial adoption has become the modern day celebration it is to date.

Families show appreciation for the hard work and love of their mothers with the purchasing of gifts, chocolates or flowers and now cards. Here at UKBullion we recommend the gift of gold which holds much greater value than other more traditional gifts. Take a look below at our specially selected range of products, perfect for Mother’s Day.
